Nawanshahr- On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, today Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) and (G) visited the mandis of the district and reviewed the arrangements for procurement of paddy during the Kharif season 2025-26. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur interacted with the officials in the mandis of Balachaur and Nawanshahr and obtained detailed information about the procurement arrangements and preparations.
Nawanshahr- On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, today Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) and (G) visited the mandis of the district and reviewed the arrangements for procurement of paddy during the Kharif season 2025-26. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur interacted with the officials in the mandis of Balachaur and Nawanshahr and obtained detailed information about the procurement arrangements and preparations.
She instructed the officials that farmers, laborers and arhtiyas should not face any kind of problem and their crops should be purchased within the stipulated time and timely payments should be ensured.
He also discussed the moisture content of paddy with the officials of the procurement agencies including Pangrain, PUNSUP, Markfed, Warehouse and FCI and appealed to the farmers to give priority to bringing only dry paddy to the markets. He said that there is a possibility of arrival of 3.88 lakh metric tons of paddy during this season and arrangements have been made in each market as per the needs of farmers, laborers and arhtiyas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Verma visited Behram and Banga markets and checked. He reviewed the arrangements of drinking water, toilets, cleanliness, lights, tarpaulins etc. in the markets. He urged the farmers to bring paddy of prescribed moisture content to the markets and said that the district administration has made adequate arrangements related to procurement and no kind of problem will be allowed.
He appealed to the farmers to operate the combines only between 10 am and 6 pm and to ensure that the super SMS is installed on the combine. On this occasion, the agents of Mandi Behram and Banga were also present on the spot. On this occasion, the District Mandi Officer, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Jashan Singh, Secretary Market Committee Varinder Kumar, AFSO Harish Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Bikram Gummar and representatives of other government agencies were present.
