People from dozens of surrounding villages, including Mohali, Kharar, Kurali, Mullapur, had arrived to offer their last darshan and flowers of devotion to the martyr. Villagers stood outside their houses with tricolor flags. All were chanting slogans of Bharat Mata Di Jai. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Banwari Lal Purohit, Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann, Chetan Singh Jaudamajra, Water Supply Board Chairman Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Mr. Jagmohan Singh Kang, former MLA GP Singh, BJP District President Mr. Sanjeev Vashisht, BJP leaders Jai Inder Kaur, Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha and Sukhvikhandar Singh Goldi, former councilor Paramjit Singh Kahlon along with leaders of various parties, various social service and religious organizations. Representatives of and thousands of residents of the villages paid homage to Shaheed Manpreet Singh.
Manpreet's uncle Harmel Singh said that the health of Shaheed Manpreet Singh's mother Manjit Kaur is repeatedly deteriorating, due to which the doctor has been stopped at home. He said that no one had thought that the family would have to see this day.
Demand to open an army school in the village
Meanwhile, the youth of the village was also seen protesting against the government that nothing was done by the government or the administration to clean and level the place of the funeral (where people had to pay their last darshan of the martyr). Villagers cleaned this place at their own level and leveled it. The villagers demanded that an army school be opened in the name of Colonel Manpreet in the village so that more and more youths of the village can serve the country.
