SAS Nagar, August 6 - Shiromani Akali Dal District Mohali President Parvinder Singh Sohana has said that Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh have sunk the city by putting their 'political bias' ahead. At a press conference here, he said that these two leaders sometimes come together and hug for their own interests, and sometimes they start fooling people by drawing political swords against each other.
He said that now that the Municipal Corporation elections are a few months away, Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu has suddenly remembered the burning problems of the city. He said that the mayor, who has been carrying out the funeral of the financial condition of the Mohali Municipal Corporation through corruption for four and a half years, is today trying to become the guardian of the city, but the people of Mohali, who have been suffering in their respective areas for years, are not going to fall for the mayor's tricks now. He said that the mayor should tell where the estimate of the Rs 600 crore demand he is making from the government is, where this money is to be spent and when was this discussed in the municipal corporation meeting? He said that on the other hand, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh has also always been running away from the major problems of the city. He said that among the basic problems of Mohali, garbage is not being maintained properly for the last one and a half years and people are falling prey to diseases, but the MLA is playing politics. He said that the garbage dump where the MLA is talking about dumping garbage is not possible for two years and the second big thing is whether people do not live there and whether it would be right to throw their garbage on someone else's lap.
He said that similarly, politics is being played with the people who have suffered from the rain water in Mohali. For this, both the Mayor and the MLA are equally responsible. He said that year after year, people's goods worth crores of rupees were being destroyed, but these two leaders kept blaming each other and people kept falling prey to their political enmity.
He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal government had spent Rs 2500 crore for the development of infrastructure in Mohali and the Mayor and the MLA did not bring even a fifth of this for Mohali and the money that has come has not been put to the right use.
He demanded that instead of harassing the people of Mohali due to their political rivalry, both these leaders should work properly for the betterment of the people of Mohali or resign from their respective positions, realizing their moral responsibility.
