Hoshiarpur- An awareness seminar was organized today at Government Hospital Tanda under the War Against Drugs campaign launched by the Punjab government to end the scourge of drugs in the state. In this, Dr. Karan Kumar Saini informed that at present, drugs have become a serious social and health problem.
Therefore, the Punjab government is making serious efforts to make Punjab drug-free, under which seminars and camps are being organized to make the common people aware by going from village to village, so that people can get information about the harm caused by drugs so that they can spread awareness in their surroundings and prevent the spread of this scourge.
Informing them further, he said that drug addiction is a mental illness which is completely treatable and it is completely free in all government hospitals of the state. He told them that the Punjab government has formed special teams under the leadership of expert doctors to treat drug addicts free of cost, by whom the drug addict is properly treated and the name and address of the victim is also kept confidential.
Present on this occasion, State Awardee Eye Donor In-charge Tanda Bhai Barinder Singh Masiti also appealed to the people to quit drugs and motivated the people to donate organs, eyes and bodies. On this occasion, apart from others, Health Inspector Jatinder Singh, Avtar Singh BEE, Aarti Badwal, Ritika Saini and all CMOs, students of the Nursing School were present.
