Chandigarh, August 2: On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, a program was organized to create awareness about organ donation at the Government Dispensary located at Badheri Village (Sector 41) in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Hardeep Singh Buterla, Area Councilor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, who was specially present on the occasion, said that organ donation is also a great donation. Organ donation occurs when an organ is removed from a person's body with his consent. Organ donation is done by both the living and the dead. Medical students can do research on the human body through organ donation. Organ transplantation gives new life to the needy.
Doctor Navreet of the dispensary said that organ donation can save a person's life. Its importance should not be ignored. We all should take effective steps to meet this increasing demand. No fee is charged from the donor or his family for organ donation.
On this occasion, Aam Aadmi Party ward president Gurcharan Singh and the entire staff of the dispensary were also present.
