Mukerian:- The increasing water level in Pong Dam has once again raised the concerns of farmers. About 60 thousand cusecs of water being released from the dam has started drowning the crops of farmers. At 8 am today, the water level in Pong Dam reached 1395.21 feet. The inflow of water in Pong is being said to be 74910 cusecs.
It is worth mentioning that yesterday there was a huge increase in the inflow of water in Pong Dam and today the water level has crossed 1395 feet. This increase is continuing continuously and 59845 cusecs of water is being released.
Farmer leader Amarjit Singh Nushihara said that due to the flood, there has been a huge loss of land and crops on the banks of Beas River. The plans being made by farmers to clear the sand for sowing the next crops in the fields have come to a standstill. He said that if this continues, the farmers who have suffered losses in the previous crops will have to be deprived of the next crop as well.
