Government approves extraction of mogha in lands adjacent to Bist Doab Canal-Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal

Hoshiarpur- The Bist Doab Canal, which was built a few years after independence, has now paved the way for extraction of mogha in lands adjacent to the canal and orders have also been issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in this regard. This information was shared by Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA from Chabbewal constituency Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal during a meeting held in the office with the organization president, block in-charge and block presidents.

Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that during the by-election of Chabbewal constituency, we had promised the people that canal water would be made available to the lands adjacent to the canal and now this promise has been fulfilled.
This will benefit not only the farmers of Chabbewal constituency but also the villages of adjoining Phagwara and Garhshankar constituencies. Now any farmer who needs canal water can apply to the concerned canal department (Jalandhar branch) and demand a mogha, after which the department will immediately provide water to the farmer's field from the canal.
Dr. Chabbewal said that the Mann government of the state has spent crores of rupees to reach the tails, which has ensured that the farmers get canal water and secondly, while the groundwater is being saved, the groundwater level is also rising.
He said that when the canal was built, the farmers with lands adjacent to the canal never got its benefit, but now with the farmer-friendly decision taken by the Punjab government under the guidance of AAP's national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, it has been ensured that the farmers get canal water.
Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal said that majority of farmers in Doaba have very less land, hence every farmer cannot spend lakhs of rupees on tube well and keeping this fact in mind, Punjab government has decided to provide canal water to farmers, he said that Punjab government is spending Rs 4 thousand crores on canal renovation. He further said that now railing will be installed very soon along Bist Doab canal so that accidents can be prevented with immediate effect.
On this occasion, organization in-charge Bhupinder Singh, block in-charge Jaswinder Singh Khaira, Charanjit Bunty, Jaspal Singh, Shivranjan Singh, Bharat Lal, Kirpal Singh, Dr. Vipan, Kirpal Singh, Birla Seth (all block in-charge), block presidents Naresh, Ganesh Kumar Ginni, Jatinder Kumar, Narinder Mehna, Lakhvir Singh, Surinder Singh, Surjit Singh Bham, Vikas Sharma, Ricky Parmar Baddo, Jaspal Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Jaskaran Ajnoha, Hardeep Singh Deepa and Daljit Patti were also present.
