Hoshiarpur- In an exclusive conversation with senior journalist Sanjeev Kumar, Hoshiarpur Bar Association President Advocate P.S. Ghuman shared his vision for an accessible, inclusive and welfare-centric legal system.
Advocate Ghuman stressed that justice should not be the property of any particular class, but should be a fundamental right of every common citizen, especially the economically weaker section. He said, “Our legal system is strong, but it should be even more accessible to the common man. Free legal aid should reach those who are afraid of seeking legal help due to financial or functional constraints.”
He reiterated his commitment to further strengthen the free legal aid system and to make the marginalized people aware and empowered about their rights. He said, “Information is the greatest power. People should believe that justice is not far from them.”
Speaking on the welfare of lawyers, Advocate Ghuman highlighted several pressing issues. He said, “There is a need for good building facilities, insurance schemes and social security for young and struggling lawyers. The Bar Council and the government should jointly look into this matter.”
He also suggested that skill development and training workshops be organized for young lawyers to equip them with modern legal techniques and traditions.
Advocate Ghuman said that he is dedicated to reforming the judicial system, access to justice and welfare of lawyers. He assured that under his leadership, Hoshiarpur Bar Association will remain a strong support for both the people and the legal community.
