SAS Nagar, January 31, 2025: Keeping in view the future issues related to the Railway Under Pass at Dhakoli, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today asked the MC Zirakpur officials to submit the proposal for Railway Over Bridge in place of the presently sanctioned Railway Under Pass to the Railway authorities with immediate effect.
Taking a joint meeting of MC Zirakpur and Railway officials with SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar today, Deputy Commissioner Jain stressed that the feasibility of Railway Underpass at Dhakoli will not prove beneficial in the long run in view of the present scenarios like height issue, waterlogging problem and high volume of traffic. He said that the clear height of the sanctioned Railway Underpass has been stated to be 3.35 m which is half the height of NHAI’s Baltana Point of Intersection. Hence, height may become a big issue in future.
Similarly, the road going from Dhakoli railway crossing splits into two roads, one towards national highway and the other towards Derabassi, which needs a rotary ahead. The MC and railway officials, including SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, thought that as per the present circumstances and future needs, the RUB should be replaced by a ROB.
It was decided that a revised proposal in this regard would be immediately sent to the railway authorities requesting them to prepare a DPR for the proposed railway over bridge. The deputy commissioner said that it was the need of the hour to make a long-term plan to make the city traffic-friendly in view of the growing urbanisation.
He said the district administration and the state government were keen to resolve this major bottleneck of Zirakpur area to smoothen the traffic chaos.
