Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman Kausamb and Chairman Punjab Mandi Board visited various research institutes on the second day of the National Conference held in Karnataka on the subject of Food Loss and Waste in Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market. During this, discussions were held with senior scientists on behalf of S. Barsat and information was obtained about the research being done related to crops.

Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman Kausamb and Chairman Punjab Mandi Board visited various research institutes on the second day of the National Conference held in Karnataka on the subject of Food Loss and Waste in Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market. During this, discussions were held with senior scientists on behalf of S. Barsat and information was obtained about the research being done related to crops.
While on the first day of the National Conference, there was a detailed discussion regarding preventing loss and waste of fruits and vegetables, on the second day, Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Chettalli and Indian Institute of Spices Research were visited. During this, information was given by senior scientists about the research being done in the institute and the new varieties developed.
Many varieties of fruits have been developed by the Central Horticultural Experiment Station, which have very high nutritional value. The environment and techniques required for the production of these fruits were also discussed in detail. Along with this, detailed information was also given about the new varieties of spices being developed at the Indian Institute of Spices Research.
On this occasion, Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Mr. Harchand Singh Barsat, while talking to senior scientists, highlighted the need and utility of these new discoveries. He said that new discoveries are very important to strengthen agriculture and such institutes are not only playing an important role in strengthening Indian agriculture, but are also giving a new direction to the future of agriculture.
Stressing the importance of research centers, Mr. Barsat said that such institutes are making a special contribution in the field of Indian agriculture. Encouraging these institutes further, he said that it is the need of the hour that such new varieties of crops should be developed, which give good results in different climatic conditions and which farmers can get benefits by growing in different parts of the country.
