Una, June 18- All necessary arrangements are being ensured by the Una district administration to effectively deal with possible disasters in view of the southwest monsoon 2025. Along with strengthening departmental coordination, the disaster management mechanism is being strengthened through registration and training of civil defense volunteers.

So far, more than 800 civil defense volunteers have been registered in Una district, whose training programs are in progress. These volunteers will assist the administration in works like relief, rescue and emergency coordination in case of disaster. Efforts are also underway to connect more citizens with this campaign.
This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal during a video conferencing held from Shimla on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena. He informed that instructions have been issued to all the concerned departments regarding disaster management preparations regarding monsoon. Officers have been instructed to work in coordination, keep the early warning system active and ensure prompt exchange of information.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all necessary arrangements have already been made to deal with possible floods, waterlogging or other disaster situations. All departments have been instructed to remain fully alert and prepared to ensure the safety of life and wealth during the monsoon.
It is worth mentioning that Civil Defence Volunteers are common citizens who receive training and work as volunteers in case of disaster. They are registered and trained by the district administration. They are made proficient in subjects like rescue, first aid, firefighting, search-rescue. This initiative is a concrete step towards making Una district more capable and organized in terms of disaster management.
In this review meeting, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Bhatia, Home Guard Commandant Vikas Saklani, Superintendent Engineer of Jal Shakti Department Naresh Dhiman and officers of various departments were present in the NIC room with the Deputy Commissioner.
