
Security arrangements tightened ahead of Modi's Jammu and Kashmir visit.
Jammu, June 5 - Multi-layered security arrangements have been made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, where he will inaugurate the much-awaited Kashmir rail link and dedicate several development projects worth over Rs 46,000 crore to the nation in Katra, officials said. This will be Modi's first visit to the Union Territory after Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian armed forces in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The Pahalgam attack had killed 26 people, most of them tourists.

Before flagging off Vande Bharat trains on the completion of the 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link, Prime Minister Modi is set to inaugurate the Chenab Bridge, a symbol of India's engineering excellence, and India's first cable-stayed Anji Bridge, which will provide direct rail connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.
Modi will also lay the foundation stones or inaugurate many other projects. These include several development projects worth over Rs 46,000 crore at Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine atop the Trikuta hills in Reasi district.
Prime Minister Modi will also flag off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and back. These will offer a fast, comfortable and reliable travel option for residents, tourists, pilgrims and others.
