Hoshiarpur, June 4 - During a special meeting at Thana Mahilpur, DSP Garhshankar Jaspreet Singh said that under the government's war against drugs campaign, his teams are going to different villages of the sub-division and making people aware to stay away from drugs.
Giving information about the war against drugs campaign, he said that under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Rodi, he is making people aware against drugs by holding daily meetings in 5/6 villages of his constituency and similarly, under the leadership of MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar, he is also holding meetings in some villages of Mahilpur.
He said that under that campaign, he is getting full support of the people. Those who earlier used to consider it a shame to see their family members getting caught in drug addiction and did not come forward, now due to the efforts being made by the police, they come forward for treatment without any hesitation and also give information about drug peddlers without any fear.
He appealed to the youth not to get mislead by such people about their property and livelihood as such earnings mostly lead to losses and only the government has the right over it. He said that the drug trade in the area is on the verge of ending.
