Due to the continuous efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, the 75 crore Beet Kshetra Irrigation Scheme-2 has received the approval of the Central Government. Under this scheme, 90 percent financial assistance will be provided by the Central Government and 10 percent by the State Government. About 22 villages of Beet area of ??Haroli will get direct benefit from this important scheme and about 50 thousand kanal agricultural land will be irrigated.

The Deputy Chief Minister told in a press conference held in Una on Sunday that under the scheme, water will be supplied to the fields by constructing 12 water storage tanks.

It is noteworthy that in connection with the approval of this project, the Deputy Chief Minister met the Union Water Power Minister several times and strongly presented the state's side. Continuous meetings were held with the officials of the concerned ministry for the approval of the DPR, the positive result of which came in the form of this historic approval. Expressing gratitude to the Union Minister, he praised the state government and departmental officials, who made tireless efforts to give concrete shape to this important work. Praising all the officials of Una of the Water Power Department, he said that they have worked hard to make this scheme a reality.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that in the first phase, 9 villages were covered under the Beet Area Lift Irrigation Scheme of Rs 42 crore, which provided irrigation facility to 29 thousand Kanal land.
Mr Agnihotri said that at one time Beet area was facing a huge problem of water. We had promised that a permanent solution to this problem would be found. We are satisfied that we have achieved great success in this. Today, many cash crops are being grown in this area and people are active in agricultural work. Tubewells have been installed in every village, where tubewells have not reached, water will be provided there under this scheme. On completion of Beet Irrigation Scheme-2, every village of this area will be connected to the mainstream.
*Defensive works of water supply and irrigation in Haroli, Rs 325 crore being spent*
The Deputy Chief Minister said that apart from this, works are being done on war footing in the field of water supply and irrigation in Haroli assembly constituency. These projects are costing Rs 325 crore. Schemes worth Rs 66 crore have been completed in Beet area. A water storage tank of 50 lakh litre capacity has been built in Polian, while a tank of 25 lakh litre capacity has been built in Dulahad. Pipeline laying work has also been done. Adequate arrangements for water supply have been made for the Bulk Drug Park.
At the same time, Rs 12 crore is being spent for recharging the old ponds and tanks of the area. Work is being done on schemes worth Rs 105 crore for drinking water supply and Rs 130 crore for irrigation. Rs 13 crore is being spent on embankment of drains in the area.

Ghaluwal bridge will be double lane*
Stressing on the all-round development of Haroli region, the Deputy Chief Minister said that after being elected for the fifth consecutive time with the blessings of the people, this time he had decided to take forward two important projects on priority. These included irrigation scheme 2 for Beet area and construction of Pandoga-Tyudi bridge. He met Union Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari for the approval of Pandoga-Tyudi bridge and got it approved. Today, the work of this bridge under construction at a cost of Rs 52 crore is going on at a fast pace and will soon be dedicated to the public.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that further work will be done to make Ghaluwal bridge double lane, this will ease traffic.
