New Delhi, May 27 - Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today said that eligible candidates belonging to backward classes are being 'declared ineligible' across the country so that they can be kept away from education and leadership. The Congress leader has made this claim at a time when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has recently announced to conduct a caste census across the country. This demand was being made continuously by the Congress for some time now.
Gandhi said in a post on X, ''Not Found Suitable'' is now the new humanism. Eligible candidates from SC/ST/OBC are being deliberately declared 'unfit' so that they can stay away from education and leadership.'' The Congress leader quoted Dr. BR Ambedkar as saying that 'Education is the greatest weapon for equality'. He targeted the Modi government and said, “The government is busy dismantling this weapon.”
He said that more than 60 percent of the reserved posts of professors and more than 30 percent of the reserved posts of associate professors in Delhi University have been kept vacant by declaring them as NFS. Gandhi said, “This is no exception – the same conspiracy is going on everywhere in IITs, central universities. NFS is an attack on the Constitution. NFS is a betrayal of social justice. This is not just a fight for education and jobs – it is a fight for rights, respect and participation.”
Gandhi shared a video clip of his interaction with Delhi University students and said, “Now we will all together respond to every anti-reservation move of the BJP/RSS with the power of the Constitution.”
