Hoshiarpur: Three bright students, who secured district and state level positions in Class XII through hard work and dedication, today spent the entire day with SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik under the Punjab Government's unique initiative 'Ek Din SSP Ke Saath'.
The programme was organised with the objective of making the students aware of the working style of police service, discipline and responsibility towards the society. The day began with a tea and conversation session at the SSP office. Welcoming the students, SSP Malik not only highlighted various aspects of police service but also shared his personal life, student life and journey of becoming an IPS.
This open and spontaneous conversation also made the students aware of the human side of a police officer. The students were then taken on a tour of various centres of the police department such as control room, cyber security cell, women cell, storage room, common centre, custody cell. They saw how the police force ensures the security of the city round the clock. The students got first-hand experience of case handling and use of modern technology.
After this, lunch was served to the students. The students also got an opportunity to participate in a public hearing session, where they heard the problems of common citizens and understood the process of their solution. This experience was enough for them to understand that the role of police is not limited to maintaining law and order, but it is a sensitive and responsible service.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik motivated the students to make hard work, ethics and social service the basic mantra of their life. Anuj Kumar, Amar Gupta, students of Government Senior Secondary School Talwara Sector-1 and Punika, who secured ninth position, described this experience as eye-opening and life-changing. They said that for them this experience is not only a proof of academic success, but also inspires them to move ahead in life.
