Garhshankar, May 26- The demand for the construction of a bypass in Garhshankar city has been going on for a long time. Various political parties have been making statements on this issue and many times talks have been held from the stage to take political advantage of it. Roads for six major cities lead from Garhshankar city located on the Jammu-Chandigarh road, which include roads from Garhshankar to Chandigarh, Garhshankar to Hoshiarpur, Garhshankar to Ludhiana, Garhshankar to Amritsar, Garhshankar to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Garhshankar to Nangal and Himachal Pradesh.
There is heavy traffic on all these roads day and night and Garhshankar city has become such a junction that heavy traffic on one or the other route jams all the roads as soon as it reaches this city. The leaders of the previous governments here have kept the issue of bypass alive by doing dirty politics, but the Chief Minister of the current government Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann himself came to village Simbli several months ago and announced the construction of Garhshankar bypass, but till date no work is being done on the ground in this regard.
People do not see any special difference between the previous governments and the current leaders. The common people demand that the bypass of Garhshankar city should be built on priority basis, not just a bypass but a ring road should be built outside Garhshankar so that the six roads outside Garhshankar city are connected to each other and only that traffic enters the city which has to come inside the city. Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harpreet Singh Rinku Bedi took a dig at the Punjab government and said that the people of Aam Aadmi Party, who always make fun of the politicians, should tell why the bypass of Garhshankar is not being built as per their announcement. He said that this is a legitimate demand of the people and it should be fulfilled immediately. Sahaj Singh, who understands public issues, says that whatever expectations the common people had from this government, all of them have been shattered.
He said that the common people have been demanding for a long time that a bypass of Gadhshankar be built. From time to time, different governments made announcements in this regard and people also saw a ray of hope, but no government paid attention to the seriousness of this issue, due to which even today the traffic passing through Gadhshankar remains a big problem for the common people.
He said that when the Aam Aadmi Party government made this announcement, there was hope that maybe something would happen, but recently they have also been disappointed. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Omkar Singh Chahalpuri said that nothing can be expected from this government, because the people sitting on responsible posts in this government are not helping the people except telling jokes.
Talking about the problem of the people, he said that often ambulances or other such vehicles get stuck in Gadhshankar city, which need to reach their destination quickly. He said that since this is a defence road, we can understand the meaning of traffic jam on this road.
