Protection measures from heat wave
Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said that as far as possible, do not go out in the harsh sun. Drink water as often as possible, drink water even if you do not feel thirsty. Always keep drinking water with you while traveling. Whenever you go out in the sun, wear light colored and loose cotton clothes, use sunglasses, cover your head with a towel or cap and always wear shoes or slippers. Do not do hard work in high temperatures. As far as possible, avoid working outside in harsh sunlight.
If your work is outside, then definitely use a cap, towel or umbrella and keep a wet cloth on your face, head and neck. Eat light food, eat fruits with high water content like watermelon, cucumber, lemon, orange etc. and do not eat high protein food like meat and nuts which increase body temperature. Regularly consume home made drinking water like lassi, salt sugar solution, buttermilk, lemonade, mango panna etc.
Do not leave children and pets alone in parked vehicles. Keep animals in the shade and give them plenty of water to drink. Keep your house cool, use curtains, shutters etc. Keep the windows open at night. Be alert about the local weather forecast and upcoming temperature changes. If you do not feel well or feel dizzy, contact the doctor immediately.
What to do in case of heat stroke
The Deputy Commissioner said that despite taking precautions, if someone gets heat stroke, immediately make the person lie down in the shade. If the clothes are tight, then loosen them or remove them. Wipe the body with a cold wet cloth or bathe with cold water. Give the person ORS, lemon water, salt-sugar solution to drink, which can increase the amount of water in the body. If the person vomits water or is unconscious, do not give him anything to eat or drink. If the condition of the person suffering from heat stroke does not improve within an hour, immediately take him to the nearest health center and consult a doctor.
