
Pharmacy should not give Pregabalin medicine without doctor's approval - District Magistrate.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar - District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh, exercising powers vested under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, has issued an order that Pregabalin medicine should be distributed by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for the prescribed period.

The District Magistrate directed that the pharmacy should also keep a complete record of this medicine. He said that the Civil Surgeon Office has informed that Pregabalin is commonly used by medical experts / psychiatrists / GDMOs for the treatment of patients suffering from diseases like fibromyalgia / neuralgia.
But in large quantities it can be misused as a medicine. Therefore, this medicine should be distributed by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for the prescribed period. This order will remain in force till July 14, 2025.
