S.A.S. Nagar, May 9- The Excise Department has initiated action against those illegally transporting liquor from Chandigarh to Mohali by setting up checkpoints at interstate barriers between Mohali and Chandigarh. As part of this, the department conducted checks by establishing checkpoints at Phase-1, Phase-7, Y.P.S. Chowk, and Jagatpura.
According to information received, the department’s team seized liquor from a vehicle during a checkpoint at the Phase-1 barrier. During the operation, excise officials stated that due to the difference in liquor rates between Chandigarh and Mohali, some people, in hopes of getting cheaper liquor, are not only violating the law by bringing liquor from Chandigarh to Mohali but are also causing financial loss to the government.
