Nawanshahr, May 9- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh has issued orders against those involved in illegal hoarding of essential commodities and directed the officials to take strict action as per law if any such case comes to light.

Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that the administration is ensuring smooth availability of essential commodities across the district while action will be taken against those involved in hoarding. He also sought cooperation from the public to maintain smooth supply and distribution of essential commodities in the district.
The orders issued under Section 163 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and the Indian Civil Security Act, 2023 stated that citizens can report any case of hoarding, black marketing or price manipulation to the concerned authorities of the district. The Deputy Commissioner categorically stated that no person, trader or institution shall hoard essential commodities including food grains and commodities, fodder, milk and dairy products, petrol and other fuels and other daily necessities.
Hoarding related to essential commodities, petrol, diesel etc., if any, may be reported to the District Food and Supply Controller (98782-30268), matters related to animal husbandry services will be brought to the notice of Deputy Director Animal Husbandry on his mobile number (78891-36823).
Similarly, problems related to Mandi including vegetables etc. will be brought to the notice of District Mandi Officer (98722-58599), while for animal fodder, District Manager Markfed (98765-04725) can be contacted. Beware of rumour mongers: Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh appealed to the people to remain calm. Along with this, he also urged the people not to fall prey to rumours or misleading information being spread on any platform.
He also assured that there is no need to panic in any situation, as the district administration has already issued instructions for uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He said that people can get the latest information and real-time updates related to the district from the Facebook page of District Public Relations Office Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar so that real-time information can be obtained in this changing situation.
Appreciated the district residents for their cooperation in blackout, appealed for full compliance: Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh appreciated the cooperation given by the district residents in implementing the blackout late Thursday evening and asked them to ensure compliance of the blackout by switching off every light in residential areas and commercial establishments if required.
He also appealed to the people to completely cover the solar lights installed in rural areas if required and switch off the CCTV cameras along with the lights. Instructions to officers not to leave the station without permission: The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the district officials and officers of various departments not to leave the station without his prior approval.
