257908 metric tonnes of wheat procured in the district, Rs 607.92 crore paid in farmers' accounts: Deputy Commissioner.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh informed about the purchase, payment and lifting of wheat in the district that so far 257908 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis, which has been purchased by the procurement agencies. He informed that direct payment has been ensured in the accounts of the farmers within the stipulated time.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh informed about the purchase, payment and lifting of wheat in the district that so far 257908 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis, which has been purchased by the procurement agencies. He informed that direct payment has been ensured in the accounts of the farmers within the stipulated time.
Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh informed that till the evening of May 6, Rs 607.92 crore has been paid in the accounts of the farmers, which is 101 percent of the payment within 24 hours. He informed that Pangrain, Markfed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and FCI agencies are continuously procuring in the mandis.
He informed that 66224 metric tons of wheat has been procured by Pangrain, 61118 by Markfed, 64305 by Punsup, 38077 by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and 21687 by FCI as well as 6497 metric tons by traders. He informed that more than 55 percent of the crop has been lifted from the mandis and instructions have been given to further speed up the lifting.
Regarding the smooth procurement and smooth arrangements in the 34 mandis of the district, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh informed that the target for the arrival of 260870 metric tons of wheat during the current season was set, out of which 257908 metric tons of wheat has been procured. He directed the concerned officers and agencies to further speed up the lifting in the mandis so that the crop can be lifted on time and delivered to the designated place.
