SAS Nagar, May 1 - Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu has demanded that both the water treatment plants of Mohali be connected to the electricity hotline as the ongoing power cuts in Mohali affect the drinking water supply so that there is no disruption in the supply of drinking water. Along with this, he has asked PSPCL to give advance information about these cuts.
Mayor Jeeti Sidhu said that the officials of the Public Health Department brought to his notice that due to some work being done by the Electricity Department near Verka Chowk, there was a long power cut in both Sector 56 and Sector 57 yesterday and before this, there have been continuous power cuts for the last three-four days, due to which the water supply has been badly affected.
He said that these two water treatment plants supply water to almost the entire area under Mohali Municipal Corporation and thus due to power cuts, the pressure of water supply reduces significantly and water does not reach the upper floors at all, causing problems to the people.
He asked the city residents to use water efficiently in the summer season so that they do not face any problem. He said that under no circumstances, water should be poured in the gardens in the morning and water should not be used to wash vehicles by installing water pipelines. He said that in this regard, the Public Health Department and the Municipal Corporation are sending separate teams and issuing challans, but people themselves also need to be aware.
