Nawanshahr: On April 19, teachers selected in the 5994 recruitment (backlog) at Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains' village Gambhirpur were severely beaten up by the Anandpur Sahib police administration during their ongoing struggle demanding issuance of appointment letters.
A teacher was openly slapped by the SHO Danish Veer on the spot, while the teachers were being arrested, they were dragged and kicked while boarding the bus and another policeman sat on the teacher's lap by placing his knee on his hip. Unemployed teachers were taken to the police station and abused on the instigation of the government and the police administration is making shameless statements on social media platforms about continuing such actions in the future.
Terming it as inhuman torture, the Democratic Teachers Front held a meeting at the district headquarters under the leadership of District President Jaswinder Aujla and General Secretary Manohar Lal and burnt the effigies of Education Revolution, Chief Minister Punjab and Education Minister Punjab.
