Students of the Agriculture Department of Khalsa College Mahilpur organised an internship programme under the Agriculture Training Programme.

Mahilpur, April 9- BSc students of the Agriculture Department of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur participated in an internship programme under the Agriculture Training Programme in collaboration with GV Organic (Hoshiarpur). In this programme, the students made a special visit to various organic farms of Hoshiarpur district and the farms of progressive farmers involved in organic farming and got information about getting maximum profit at minimum cost through organic farming.

Mahilpur, April 9- BSc students of the Agriculture Department of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur participated in an internship programme under the Agriculture Training Programme in collaboration with GV Organic (Hoshiarpur). In this programme, the students made a special visit to various organic farms of Hoshiarpur district and the farms of progressive farmers involved in organic farming and got information about getting maximum profit at minimum cost through organic farming.
On this occasion, the students got information about the Gandoa Manure prepared by GV Organics located in village Haripur (Hoshiarpur) and its proper use. On this occasion, Manager and Engineer Mr. Pruthi and team member Devpal shared detailed information about Burmese Compost Manure and its benefits. During this, the students also came to know about the contribution of President Award winner Surjit Singh in organic farming.
Under the programme, the students learnt about animal husbandry and cultivation of various crops through drip irrigation at Cheema Dairy Farm (Dallewal). During the programme, they were also informed about fruit cultivation in Road (Hoshiarpur), marketing of dragon fruit and variety of fruits by the operators of Saini Dragon Fruit.
On this occasion, Head of Department Dr. Pratibha Chauhan said that the students learnt about proper use of agricultural equipment and various works related to women empowerment in Kandi area by Herbal Research Centre and Society.
College Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh motivated the students to participate more and more in such programmes so that agriculture of Punjab can be taken to new dimensions by moving away from traditional crops and moving towards agricultural economy with oilseeds, fruits and other diversification.
