Farmer leader who questioned Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian sent to judicial custody.

Muktsar, April 6 – Farmer leader Nirmal Singh Sidhu of Jasseana village of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur), who publicly questioned state Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian during a district-level farmer training camp in the local grain market, has been sent to judicial custody.

Muktsar, April 6 – Farmer leader Nirmal Singh Sidhu of Jasseana village of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur), who publicly questioned state Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian during a district-level farmer training camp in the local grain market, has been sent to judicial custody.
The farmer leader was taken into custody on Saturday as a precaution. Nirmal Singh was produced before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody under remand.
Some farmers said that Nirmal Singh had expressed concerns about the hybrid variety of paddy, but the police stopped the farmer leader and took him into custody. Later, the farmer leader also raised some slogans criticizing the state government for suppressing the voice of the farmers. Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has planned a farmers' gathering in Doda village here on Tuesday. A police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that farmer leader Nirmal Singh tried to spoil the atmosphere during a public program, which was being addressed by Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudiyan. “Nirmal Singh was taken into custody as a precaution. Later, the SDM’s court sent the farmer leader to judicial custody,” the officer said.
