Una, April 2- A five-member team of Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force (HPSDRF) organized a camp on school safety and community public awareness at Government Senior Secondary School, Kanya, Una on Wednesday. About 68 school girls, teachers, non-teaching staff, local Mahila Mandal and Yuvak Mandal members participated in this program.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that Una district is located in highly sensitive zones 4 and 5 from the earthquake point of view, due to which there is a possibility of earthquake in future. In such a situation, awareness and training in the community and schools are very important so that people can be able to deal with any disaster. He said that such programs are helpful in strengthening disaster management capacity as well as increasing awareness.
Besides this, keeping in view the anniversary of the devastating earthquake of 1905 in Kangra, awareness programs are being organized at various places by the District Disaster Management Authority on April 4. These public awareness programmes will run from 1st to 5th April and will include community awareness programmes, mock drills, training workshops, civic awareness rallies and school activities.
This training camp was organised under the leadership of HPSDRF team in the presence of Head Constable Ajay.
