Nawanshahr 27 February- Anti-Fascist Front District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar demonstrated in Nawanshahr against the displacement and killings of tribals being carried out by the Modi government at the center and several state governments. After the demonstration, a memorandum addressed to the President of the country was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner.
Earlier, CPI(ML) New Democracy leader Comrade Kulwinder Singh Waraich, CPI leader Comrade Niranjan Das and RMPI leader Kuldeep Singh Durka addressed a gathering at the local bus stand and said that the Modi government and state governments are trying to exploit the precious minerals hidden under the forests and mountains of states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka etc. for their domestic and foreign interests. They want to loot the corporates for a pittance.
If the corporates destroy the forests and mountains, then the tribals will also be destroyed on a large scale. That is why the tribals are struggling to save their existence. To suppress their struggle, tribals are being killed by calling them Maoists. India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah is repeatedly giving statements that Maoists will be wiped out from the country by March 2026. By giving such a statement, Amit Shah is actually announcing the destruction and killing of tribals. The leaders said that what kind of government is this that is killing its own children.
He said that the Modi government should strongly oppose the destruction and killing of tribals. He said that there are 277 CRPF camps and 50 BSF camps in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh state alone. The government has deployed 6000 paramilitary force personnel here. More are being deployed. He said that the use of force by the central and state governments is a violation of domestic and international laws. Accountability of these governments should be ensured.
They demanded complete withdrawal of security forces from tribal areas, release of political prisoners and intellectuals, abolition of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, lifting of bans on all organisations, immediate ban on fake police encounters of tribals and others, ban on handing over mineral rich hill and forest areas to Indian and foreign corporates, ban on targeting organisations, parties, political and democratic activists, writers and journalists who oppose this oppression by labelling them urban Naxals and ending Operation Khargar.
