Nawanshahr- Sri Guru Ramdas Seva Society, Nawanshahr celebrated Guruta Gaddi Diwas of seventh Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib as Environment Day and planted saplings on dividers at Banga Road, Nawanshahr. On this occasion, Society President Sukhwinder Singh Thanain said that Guruta Gaddi Diwas of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, who had special affection and love for the environment, is celebrated as Environment Day with great reverence and love.
The seventh Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji followed the unique principle of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Pawan Guru Pani Pita Mata Dharti Mahatu. To promote the purity of the environment and the treatment of physical ailments, various invaluable herbs and orchards were planted on the land of Sri Kiratpur Sahib. Today we are ruthlessly destroying these herbs, orchards and forests for our destruction.
Today water, air and land have become badly polluted. It has become difficult to breathe in such an environment. Humans, animals and birds are falling prey to many diseases. Keeping in mind the current need, various government, non-government and voluntary organizations are running campaigns in small and big forms for the protection and purity of the environment. Every person should contribute to the protection of the environment by becoming a part of these campaigns.
He said that it is the duty of everyone to take this message forward on this holy day related to Guru Sahib. Amarjit Singh Khalsa congratulated the entire Sangat on Guru Sahib's Guruta Gaddi Diwas and appealed to plant as many trees as possible. Along with environmental awareness, the society is active at the grassroots level, under which efforts are being made to increase greenery by planting trees at various places for some time.
The plants planted on the 4 kilometer long divider on the road in Nawanshahr give the message of promoting environmental protection and greenery movement.
