Shimla, March 22 - Four buses of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) were damaged and slogans were written on them at the Amritsar bus stand on Friday night. The front windows of three of these buses were damaged, while slogans were written on a bus plying on the Amritsar-Hamirpur route.
According to information, the affected buses include buses plying on the Amritsar-Bilaspur, Amritsar-Sujanpur and Amritsar-Jwalaji routes. HRTC Managing Director Nipun Jindal said, “The matter has been brought to the notice of Amritsar police.”
It is worth mentioning that this act of vandalism has taken place despite earlier talks between the Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. During the talks, it was agreed to hand over the issue to DGP-level officials to resolve it.
In Himachal, following disputes arising out of disputes and fights between locals and Punjabi tourists and pilgrims, and subsequent incidents of damage to buses across Punjab, Himachal Transport had suspended 10 routes to Hoshiarpur, which have been resumed later.
