Rajpura, March 15- Rajpura police have arrested 5 persons (including 2 women) and recovered 1070 grams of narcotic powder and Rs 3 lakh 32 thousand drug money from their possession.
DSP Rajpura Manjit Singh said that during the campaign being run by the police against bad elements, a police party including Chief Officer Police Station City Rajpura Inspector Balwinder Singh and Kastuba Chowki Incharge Niran Singh were present at the checkpoint at T Point KSM Road (near Electricity Board Chowk Rajpura) to search for the suspects. During this, during the search of an unnumbered motorcycle (on which three youths were riding), 550 grams of narcotic powder and Rs 20 thousand in cash were recovered from the motorcycle driver and Rs 20,000/- from the youth sitting behind him.
He said that the motorcycle driver has been identified as Gulshan Kumar, resident of Ward No. 11, Ganesh Nagar, Rajpura and the persons sitting behind him have been identified as Vicky, resident of Prem Singh Colony, near Dudhadhari Gurdwara, Rajpura and Sikander alias Lily, resident of Purani Mirch Mandi, Rajpura. He said that a case was registered against them under Section 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act and they were produced in the honorable court and their remand was obtained for two days. He said that during the interrogation in remand, on their identification, Nisha wife Aman and Surabhi wife Shivam, resident of Purani Mirch Mandi, Rajpura were nominated in the said case and they were arrested near Purana Qila, Rajpura. On searching both of them, 520 grams of narcotic powder was recovered from Nisha and Rs. 2,92,100/- drug money from Surbhi, who were produced in the honorable court today and were remanded in two days police remand. These accused have already been booked for theft and NDPS Act.
