
Punjab Food Commission, Member, Vijay Datt, conducts surprise inspection of government ration depots
SAS Nagar, February 21, 2025: Member of the Punjab State Food Commission, Shri Vijay Dutt, today conducted a surprise inspection of various government ration depots in the SAS Nagar District. The purpose of this inspection was to assess the implementation of the welfare schemes running under the National Food Security Act.

The purpose of this inspection was to assess the implementation of the welfare schemes running under the National Food Security Act.
Shri Vijay Dutt inspected the ration depots in Sector 55 Phase 1 and Kharar, among others. He interacted with the beneficiaries and provided them information regarding their rights. The relevant officials were present during the inspection.
Shri Dutt informed that the government is running a wheat distribution plan for three months, from January to March. According to the data, approximately 25% of the wheat distribution has been completed in the district. Additionally, with the installation of biometric machines and electric weighing machines at all government ration depots, the ration distribution process has become more transparent, providing relief to the general public.
Shri Vijay Dutt emphasized that he regularly conducts surprise visits and will direct strict action against any lapses found in the implementation of welfare schemes. He also issued a message through the media, encouraging beneficiaries who have not yet collected their wheat to visit their respective depots.
Commission member Shri Vijay Dutt has instructed that the Punjab State Food Commission's helpline number (9876764545) be displayed at all government ration depots in the district. He further stated that if any beneficiary has a complaint regarding the National Food Security Act schemes, they can register their complaint on this helpline number.
