Closing ceremony of National Road Safety Month held at Rayat and Bahara University

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 31 January 2025: The closing ceremony of National Road Safety Month, being celebrated from 01 January to 31 January 2025, was organized today by the District Police at Rayat and Bahara University, Kharar. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek was present as the chief guest. SP Traffic H.S. Mann was also present on this occasion.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 31 January 2025: The closing ceremony of National Road Safety Month, being celebrated from 01 January to 31 January 2025, was organized today by the District Police at Rayat and Bahara University, Kharar. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek was present as the chief guest. SP Traffic H.S. Mann was also present on this occasion.
During the ceremony, students of Rayat and Bahara International Senior Secondary School presented street plays on traffic rules and the students also performed Gidda. During the program, school children gave a good message to the society by presenting under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek praised the traffic police for this noble initiative. He asked the students to stay away from drugs and follow traffic rules. He asked to honor the children participating in the street play and Gidda team by giving certificates and gifts.
He asked the school principal to organize a quiz competition on traffic rules and give prizes to the children coming in the first three positions. Mr. Deepak Pareek also suggested to the children that if any child wants to create awareness by presenting a video on any topic like staying away from drugs, saving daughters and following traffic rules, then the video will be uploaded by the police department on its social media channel.
He said that if any interested child wants to do duty as a traffic police for a day, then he will be given complete information about traffic rules by the police. DSP (Traffic) Karnail Singh also told the students and other staff during this closing ceremony that under section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act, if a child below the age of 18 years drives a vehicle, then his parents can be imprisoned for 3 years, fined up to Rs 5000 or 25 thousand and the person who gives a vehicle to a child below the age of 18 years can also be imprisoned for 3 years or fined.
If you do not give way to an emergency vehicle (ambulance, fire engine etc.), action will be taken under section 194 E of the Motor Vehicles Act, under which a fine of Rs 10,000 or a sentence of up to 6 months can be imposed. Along with this, the students were made aware about the reward scheme for the Good Samaritan Scheme run by the government and it was told that if any person helps an accident victim, he will be given Rs 2000 by the government (under the Farishte Scheme).
On this occasion, RTO Pradeep Singh Dhillon, female constable Khushpreet Kaur of Traffic Education Cell, college dean Dr. Bansal, principal Dr. Abhilasha Singh and school staff were present.
