Rajouri/Jammu, June 30 - A terrorist guide has been arrested while trying to infiltrate into India along the Line of Control near Poonch and Rajouri in the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said that Mohammad Arif was taking a group of four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists to the Indian side when he was arrested by alert troops on Sunday afternoon.
They said that the terrorists accompanying him jumped off a steep cliff and returned to the Pakistani side in an injured condition.
According to officials, Arif is a resident of Datot village in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The terrorists were trying to take advantage of the dense vegetation. But the alert troops caught Arif but the four terrorists landed in ‘no man’s land’ and returned to the Pakistani side under the cover of dense vegetation and adverse weather conditions.
They said that the presence of Pakistani posts nearby prevented the army personnel from firing on the terrorists. Officials said that Arif was in possession of a mobile phone and around 20,000 Pakistani currency.
He told during interrogation that he was aware of the geographical location of the area and was working on the instructions of the Pakistan Army to help the terrorists infiltrate into the Indian side.
They said that the terrorist guide is being interrogated in detail and important intelligence is being extracted.
