Youth can get loan up to Rs 50 lakh to start their own business - Deputy Commissioner

Nawanshahr- The government is running Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana (PMEGP) to establish self-employment for unemployed youth. Under this scheme, a loan of up to Rs 50 lakh is made available to interested candidates through banks to set up self-employment. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman today during a meeting with officials of the concerned departments to review the progress of this scheme.

Under this scheme, a loan of up to Rs 50 lakh is made available to interested candidates through banks to set up self-employment. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman today during a meeting with officials of the concerned departments to review the progress of this scheme.
He said that to avail the scheme, the minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years and there is no income limit. He said that for a project costing more than Rs 5 lakh, the minimum educational qualification of the entrepreneur should be 8th pass and entrepreneurs of articles (arts) / service sector can also avail the benefit of a project costing less than Rs 5 lakh. Under this scheme, an industry of up to Rs 10 lakh can be established for service / business and Rs 25 lakh for industrial activity.
Apart from this, financial assistance of Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing activities and Rs. 20 lakh for service sector for setting up new micro units is provided on subsidy, in which entrepreneur's own contribution will be 10% for general category and 5% for remaining candidates belonging to SC/BC/Minority/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Disabilities/Border Areas.
Similarly, after setting up the project, 15% subsidy will be available for general category for urban areas, 25% for SC/BC/Minority/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Disabilities/Border Areas entrepreneurs, 25% for general category for rural areas and 35% for SC/BC/Minority/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Disabilities/Border Areas entrepreneurs.
He informed that to avail the benefit of this scheme, the applicant will have to undergo EDP training. He said that interested candidates can contact the office of General Manager, District Industries Center or District Employment and Business Bureau, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar for more information. During this, he directed the officials of District Industries Center, Employment, Khadi Board and LDM to make maximum youth of the district aware about this scheme so that they can open their own business and stand on their feet.
He also directed that the concerned departments should form a joint team and ensure early disposal of pending cases under this scheme. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur, SDM Balachaur Ravinder Kumar Bansal and officers of concerned departments were present on this occasion.
