
District Administration Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Celebrates Lohri for Daughters
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 13, 2025: District Administration Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain, took new steps under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign on the occasion of Lohri festival and celebrated Lohri for daughters in an impressive and inspiring manner in the premises of the District Administrative Complex.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 13, 2025: District Administration Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain, took new steps under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign on the occasion of Lohri festival and celebrated Lohri for daughters in an impressive and inspiring manner in the premises of the District Administrative Complex.
On this occasion, blankets, baby kits and packets of rice, peanuts and dry fruits were given to 51 small girls called from Anganwadis of the district, and track suits and packets of rice, peanuts and dry fruits were given to 31 girls of Jyoti Saroop Kanya Ashram Kharar by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anmol Dhaliwal, Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr. Ankita Kansal and District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said on this occasion that the purpose of this program organized to promote Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign through the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development is to give the message of equality between daughters and sons in the society. She said that there was a time when people wanted sons to do more work in the house, farming etc., but today the time has completely changed.
Today daughters are going ahead of sons in the society and earning name at national and international level, whether it is educational field or sports or art, daughters are making their parents, state and country proud everywhere. She said that before the start of this event, taking a positive step at the help desk established under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in the District Administrative Complex, a langar of hot tea has also been started for the people coming to the District Administrative Complex in the winter season.
She said that its purpose is to tell that daughters have now reached the sky from the kitchen of the house. On this occasion, the story of Dulla Bhatti was narrated during cultural presentations. Later, for the safety of the daughters, decoration of Punjabi folk songs, Gidda and Bhangra on Bolis became the center of attraction, for which the services of professional artists were taken. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonam Chaudhary and Assistant Commissioner Dr. Ankita Bansal made this Lohri of daughters memorable by performing Gidda on Bolis along with the staff of DC office and Anganwadis.
On this occasion, along with giving Lohri gifts to the daughters, Lohri was also lit in the courtyard of the District Administrative Complex, on which all the officers and employees also paid their homage by offering sesame seeds as per the ritual. District Revenue Officer Dr. Aman Chawla, District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh, Prof. Gurbakshish Singh Antal, District Red Cross Society Secretary Harbans Singh, CDPO Kharar-2 Gursimran Kaur, CDPO Majri Sukhmanit Kaur, CDPO Kharar-1 and Derabassi Suman Bala, District Coordinator Hardeepam and supervisors of Anganwadis of the district and superintendents and staff of all branches of DC office and officers and employees of various departments were present.
