Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 11 January 2025: Under various pension schemes in SAS Nagar district, Rs 11 crore 83 lakh 71 thousand per month has been paid to 78914 beneficiaries. This information was given by District Social Security Officer Amrit Bala.
The District Social Security Officer said that in the district, financial assistance of Rs 724,72,500 was provided to 48315 beneficiaries of old age pension, Rs 2,57,68,500 to 17179 beneficiaries of widow and destitute women pension, Rs 95,65,500 to 6370 destitute children and Rs 1,05,64,500 in the form of pension to 7043 disabled beneficiaries. He said that this pension amount is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which has reduced the hassle of the beneficiaries and also saved their time. He said that the work of pension payment is being ensured with complete transparency.
Amrit Bala said that pension is given to eligible beneficiaries who are 65 years of age or above and women who are 58 years of age or above and whose income does not exceed Rs 60 thousand per year from all sources and have less than 2.5 acres of land in rural areas and one and less than *200 square yards* house in urban areas.
Similarly, widows and dependent women below 58 years of age, whose annual income does not exceed 60 thousand and children below 21 years of age, who are deprived of care due to death or disability of their parents and their annual income is less than 60 thousand, are also given financial assistance. Similarly, Divyangs with more than 50 percent disability can also take financial assistance.
