
Red Cross Society dispatches relief materials to flood-affected areas.
Hoshiarpur- As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner and President District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain, Red Cross Society Hoshiarpur has intensified relief work in the flood-affected areas of Tanda, Mukerian and Talwara. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner (G) Oishi Mandal dispatched the relief materials today.
Hoshiarpur- As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner and President District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain, Red Cross Society Hoshiarpur has intensified relief work in the flood-affected areas of Tanda, Mukerian and Talwara. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner (G) Oishi Mandal dispatched the relief materials today.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has appealed to the industrial units, factories, donors and common citizens of the district to come forward in this hour of natural calamity and contribute as much as possible in financial or other form, so that timely relief can be provided to the flood victims.
Interested persons can contact the Red Cross Office, Jodha Mall Road, Hoshiarpur from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. District Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood said that on Wednesday, ambulance vans of Red Cross and Civil Hospital visited the affected areas and delivered relief materials to the needy families.
One ambulance van was sent to Tanda block and the other van to Mukerian and Talwara blocks. He said that around 1000 relief kits were distributed to the flood-affected villages of Abdullahpar village in Tanda relief camp Government High School Miani, Bhan Mandir village in Talwara relief camp and Changrava village in Mukerian.
These included mosquito nets, mattresses, tarpaulins, biscuit packets, fruit jam, oil bottles, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bathing soap, laundry soap, dishwashing soap, Odomos, sanitary pads, tea leaves, dry milk, sugar etc.
Apart from this, he said that more than 250 tarpaulins have also been distributed in these villages to cover the trolleys of farmers and to protect people from the situations arising due to the removal of roofs etc., so that the people can get relief from these situations.
