Rajpura, Ghanaur 9 January: A grand function was organized in Government Middle Smart School Pabra in collaboration with Gram Panchayat to celebrate Betiyon ki Lohri for the first time under the leadership of constituency MLA Gurlal Ghanaur in Pabra village of Shambhu block.

On this occasion, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann's wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann specially attended and shared the happiness with the parents of daughters by lighting Lohri. She said that now the time has changed and people are celebrating Dhiyaan Di Lohri happily, because there is no difference between daughters and sons, for which the festival of Dhiyaan Di Lohri is being celebrated in every village.
Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann praised the Panchayat of village Pabra and said that every child is equal and celebrating the happiness of newborn children is our culture and heritage, but celebrating Dhiyaan Di Lohri equally for sons is an auspicious omen. She said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also has a dream that all our ancient festivals should be celebrated in villages and cities and today she is very happy that village Pabra has taken this initiative. Dr Mann said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is already emphasizing on empowerment of daughters and many schemes and programs have been implemented in this regard, which should be availed by the parents of daughters.
She said that there is no difference between sons and daughters, but she feels that the parents of daughters are happier because daughters are progressing a lot today. MLA Gurlal Ghanaur thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann and said that earlier Lohri celebrations in these 5 villages including Pabra had stopped once and these villages had become deserted, but now the Punjab government has taken the hand of these villages and these celebrations have started again.
Gurlal Ghanaur said that he is proud that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has started development work in these villages. On this occasion, MLA's wife Suminder Kaur and Pabra's Sarpanch Suman Lata felicitated Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann. On this occasion, newborn girls and their parents were felicitated. At the same time, the students of Smart School presented a wonderful cultural program.
