SAS Nagar, December 28- Mohali Deputy Mayor Sardar Kuljit Singh Bedi has said that on one hand the whole world is mourning the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a great personality. On the other hand, the ruling Prime Minister of our country Narendra Modi has diminished the stature of his government by ignoring the request of Congress National President Mallika Arjun Kharge to perform the last rites at Rajghat and the people of India will never forget this nor forgive the present government.
Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi condemned the Central Government and said that the difference is clear. While Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of the poor and middle class families, the present government is the government of the rich. This is the reason why the rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer. He said that Dr. Manmohan Singh brought MNREGA scheme for workers, Aadhar card, Right to Information despite criticism from his own government, most importantly, he signed an international nuclear agreement in favour of India and saved the country from sinking and took it to great heights through his financial decisions.
He said that BJP Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who today pats his back for distributing five kg ration to the poor, his right to "right to food" was also brought by Dr. Manmohan Singh and others. He said that such discrimination with this great son of the country does not enhance the prestige of the BJP.
He said that this discrimination has been done especially with the Sikhs who are a minority in the country, due to which not only the entire Punjabis but the entire country is very angry. He said that with this step of the BJP government, the stature of Dr. Manmohan Singh has increased and all the leaders of the current government have become paralyzed in front of the line drawn by Dr. Manmohan Singh.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has always tried to defame the first Sikh Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh inside and outside the Parliament, but all the efforts to defame a true and honest personality like Dr. Manmohan Singh at the international level have failed. He said that today big leaders of the whole world are paying tribute and bowing to Dr. Manmohan Singh.
He requested the government to build a memorial of Dr. Manmohan Singh in Delhi, honour him with Bharat Ratna and name the schemes started by him after Dr. Manmohan Singh.
