
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini reviews preparations for monsoon season
Chandigarh, July 2 - Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini has directed the officials in view of the ongoing monsoon season to ensure complete cleaning of all drains and ensure effective water drainage system to avoid the problem of waterlogging in rural and urban areas. He also directed that sufficient number of pumps should be arranged for immediate drainage of rainwater.
Chandigarh, July 2 - Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini has directed the officials in view of the ongoing monsoon season to ensure complete cleaning of all drains and ensure effective water drainage system to avoid the problem of waterlogging in rural and urban areas. He also directed that sufficient number of pumps should be arranged for immediate drainage of rainwater.
The Chief Minister gave these instructions while chairing a review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners here today through video conferencing.
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that in view of the possibility of heavy rains in the coming days, all the Deputy Commissioners should ensure necessary arrangements for drainage of rainwater in their respective districts so that the common public does not face any kind of trouble. He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to identify the possible places of waterlogging and take appropriate action after that.
Ensure availability of sufficient pumps for drainage of rainwater-
In the meeting, the Chief Minister took information about the number of pumps available in each district. He directed that all the pumps should be kept in full working condition so that there is no problem in drainage of rainwater. He also directed all the Deputy Commissioners to prepare a detailed report of the pumps available with the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Urban Local Bodies Department, Public Health Engineering Department and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) in their districts, so that their proper use can be made of them if necessary. The Chief Minister said that all the Deputy Commissioners should upload the information related to the availability of pumps on the portal in the prescribed format. He also directed that arrangements for electrical check-up should be ensured for the smooth functioning of the pump sets.
Ensure effective drainage system to prevent waterlogging in rural and urban areas-
While reviewing the progress of cleaning of drains, Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini gave clear instructions that especially the drains passing through towns and cities should be thoroughly cleaned so that the problem of overflow does not arise. He directed to explore the possibility of covering the Gonchi drain in Faridabad and to make similar arrangements for other drains in the state. He stressed that the drains should be maintained and garbage should be prevented from being thrown through them by installing nets.
Rs. 4.50 lakh allocated to each district for flood preparedness and Rs. 50 lakh to the Public Health Engineering Department for water drainage work-
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of construction of various roads, bridges and laying of underground pipelines for water drainage. It was informed in the meeting that an amount of Rs 4.50 lakh has been allocated to each district for flood preparedness. In addition, Rs 50 lakh has been given to the Public Health Engineering Department for water drainage works. If necessary, more amount can also be allocated under the State Disaster Management Fund.
The Chief Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioners to take appropriate steps to prevent water-borne and vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season.
State government's efforts to ensure that every eligible beneficiary gets the benefits of government schemes-
Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure immediate redressal of the complaints received during the Samadhan Shivrans. He said that it is the continuous effort of the state government that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary on time. He said that in cases where the application is rejected, clear and specific reasons should be given to the applicant for the satisfaction of the public. If any issue is not resolved due to policy hurdle, the Deputy Commissioner shall forward the application to the Chief Secretary's Office for proper action.
