
Literary Discussion on Young Poet Jaswant Gill Samalsar's Poetry Book 'Zindagi De Parchhaven'
Moga, July 13: A literary discussion on the debut poetry book 'Zindagi De Parchhaven' by young poet Jaswant Gill Samalsar was organized by the Progressive Writers Association, Punjab, in collaboration with Lok Sahit Academy (Regd.), Moga, at the residence of writer Sukhminder Kaur in Moga.
Moga, July 13: A literary discussion on the debut poetry book 'Zindagi De Parchhaven' by young poet Jaswant Gill Samalsar was organized by the Progressive Writers Association, Punjab, in collaboration with Lok Sahit Academy (Regd.), Moga, at the residence of writer Sukhminder Kaur in Moga.
Renowned theatre artist and writer Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep (Patiala) was the chief guest, while noted storyteller Paramjit Singh Mann (Chandigarh) attended as the special guest. The presidium included Dr. Deep, Paramjit Mann, Dr. Surjit Daudhar, Dr. Surjit Brar Gholia, Harnek Singh Rode, and Jangir Singh Khokhar.
The event began with Jaswant Gill reciting his selected poems. In his presidential address, Dr. Deep appreciated the literary contributions of the Progressive Writers Association and praised Lok Sahit Academy for organizing the discussion. He advised Jaswant to write not only for the oppressed labor class but also about the middle class.
Special guest Paramjit Mann praised Jaswant’s poetry, calling it the most meaningful after Sant Ram Udasi’s works. Critic Dr. Surjit Brar noted that Jaswant's poetic voice is distinct and rebellious, earning him a unique identity among his contemporaries. Dr. Surjit Singh Daudhar emphasized that Jaswant's poetry poignantly captures the pain of workers and laborers.
Harnek Singh Rode honored Jaswant with Rs. 500, expressing that such distinctive poetry is rare. Several speakers hailed Jaswant as a committed poet of the new generation. The stage was gracefully managed by young poet Charanjit Samalsar.
In the poetry session, Dhami Gill, Soni Moga, Happy Shayar, Karamjit Kaur, Dilbagh Singh, and Ranjit Sarawali recited their poems. Finally, writer Sukhminder Kaur thanked the attending literary figures and called the event a memorable gathering.
