
Punjabi University Dean Student Welfare Office launches 'Drug-Free India Campaign'

Patiala, November 21: Under the initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Dean Student Welfare Office of Punjabi University has launched the 'Drug-Free India Campaign'.
During the inaugural session of this campaign, lectures were organized in the hostels with the aim of creating awareness about this subject. The Drug-Free India Campaign Committee established at the university, in which Dean Student Welfare Dr. Monica Chawla is posted as the nodal officer and Dr. Unkar Singh and Harpreet Kaur are included as wardens and Dr. Ruby Gupta as counselors, organized the inaugural program of this series.
Additional Dean Student Welfare Dr. Naina Sharma and Provost Dr. Inderjit Chahal also expressed their views on this subject. Prof. Mamta Sharma, who arrived on a special invitation, spoke about the effects of drugs and their prevention from the perspective of psychology.
The speakers made the students aware about the methods of avoiding drug addiction and the necessary help related to this problem. On this occasion, officials of Punjab Red Cross De-Addiction and District Rehabilitation Center shared their experiences with the students about the reality of drugs. The program was moderated by Dr. Ruby Gupta and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Onkar Singh.
