Today, on 11th November, 2024, a lecture was organized by the Hindi department, Punjab University, Chandigarh on the topic “Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the five levels of human consciousness, special reference to Japuji Sahib”. In this program, Dr. Kulwinder Singh (Assistant Professor, UBS Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh) presented a topic-based lecture as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Kulwinder Singh said in his statement that Japuji Sahib is an interpretation of the Guru Granth Sahib. Today, there is a predominance of contemplation on the external form of religion, whereas the need is for subtle contemplation on the theoretical aspect of religion. There is a lack of scientific interpretation of religious literature somewhere. Guru Nanak Dev has given a scientific interpretation of religious literature after studying the religious literature of the last seven thousand years. Which helps the seekers to reach the root of religion.
All the pauris of Japuji Sahib are compilations of such explanations. The journey from the person to merge with God can be completed only after crossing five levels of consciousness. This journey starts from our self-consciousness and reaches its goal by reaching the super-consciousness. The entire philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev is based on humanity, unity, service, and true love. We should wake up in the morning and recite the words of the Gurus and think about them and this has been clearly explained in Japuji Sahib. After this, he answered the questions of the students according to the topic.
In the end, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar thanked the main speaker of the program, Dr. Kulwinder Singh, and said that it is not easy to talk so seriously on Guru Nanak Dev and Japuji Sahib and the biggest thing is to make the students understand such a serious subject easily. Our speaker today has done this work very well, for which he deserves congratulations. I am confident that this lecture will develop the thinking level of the students.
Prof. Sudhir Mehra from English Department, Head of Department of Philosophy Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, researchers and students were present in the program. The program was successfully conducted by Hindi Sahitya Parishad President and researcher Rahul Kumar.
