"Three Killed, Two Injured in Violent Clash Between Rival Groups in Garhshankar's Morawali Village"

Garhshankar: Panic spread in village Morawali of Garhshankar when three people of one group died and two youths of the other group were seriously injured in a bloody clash between two groups using sharp weapons and firing bullets. However, the police is still denying the firing.

According to the information, Gurjeet Singh alias Gopi son of Daljit Singh left with his companions in their vehicles to attend a rally of a political party in village Morawali at around 11:30 am. As soon as they went some distance on their motor bikes, they clashed outside the house of Manjeet Singh alias Mani. After which, Gurjeet Singh's companions attacked Manjeet Singh alias Mani, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukhkha son of Jagnath Singh resident of village Morawali and Sharanjit Singh son of Sukhwinder Singh resident of Banga with sharp weapons in Manjeet Singh alias Mani's mansion. Five youths of both the groups were seriously injured in this clash and were taken to Garhshankar hospital in critical condition. During treatment, Manjit Singh alias Mani, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukhkha son of Jagnath Singh resident of village Moravalli and Sharanjit Singh son of Sukhwinder Singh resident of Banga were declared dead by the police. While the doctors started treatment of Gurjit Singh alias Gopi and Deepak Singh of the other group in critical condition.
S.S.P. Hoshiarpur Surinder Laban said in a press conference that the injured Gurjit Singh alias Gopi and Deepak Singh are being treated in police custody. Meanwhile, the police have arrested five suspected accused and further investigation is being done.
Gurjit Singh alias Gopi and Manjit Singh alias Mani were friends earlier and used to run a drug de-addiction center. Later, due to some reason, there was a dispute between the two and both of them separated, meanwhile their friendship turned into enmity.
D.S.P. Jaspreet Singh said, three youths have died and two have been injured in a fight between two groups in Moravalli. A team has been formed under the supervision of SSP Hoshiarpur and the reasons for the fight will be disclosed after the investigation is completed.
