
Lt. Ahluwalia's memory will serve as a guiding light for the youth: Ajitpal Kohli
Patiala, Feb 27- MLA Patiala Ajitpal Singh Kohli today inaugurated the statue and Shaheed Smarak of 1965 Indo-Pak War hero, 7th Punjab Regiment (now 8 MAC) War Martyr Lt. Kuldeep Singh Ahluwalia (Army Medal) (26 June, 1942 - 18 September, 1965) installed at NIS Chowk here.
Patiala, Feb 27- MLA Patiala Ajitpal Singh Kohli today inaugurated the statue and Shaheed Smarak of 1965 Indo-Pak War hero, 7th Punjab Regiment (now 8 MAC) War Martyr Lt. Kuldeep Singh Ahluwalia (Army Medal) (26 June, 1942 - 18 September, 1965) installed at NIS Chowk here.
Dedicating the War Martyr Smarak to the people of Patiala, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli paid tributes to Lt. Ahluwalia and said that Lt. Ahluwalia sacrificed his life at the young age of 23 while protecting the country on Ichogil Canal in Lahore Sector on 18 September, 1965.
He emphasised that the martyrs are the true heroes of the country and our capital and the establishment of this memorial of such a great martyr will serve as an inspiration for our future generations. Ajitpal Singh Kohli further said, “The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to honour the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and support their families.”
He further said that this memorial is a testimony to the unparalleled spirit and martyrdom of Lt Kuldeep Singh Ahluwalia for the nation, which will always remind the people of Patiala of his sacrifice and will always inspire the youth of Punjab.
Family members of Lt Kuldeep Singh Ahluwalia Jaswant Singh Ahluwalia, Gurmeet Singh Ahluwalia, Paramjit Singh Ahluwalia, District Attorney Anmoljit Singh and RS Sidhu said that the Punjab Government has immortalised the memory of their family member by ending the long wait. On this occasion, Senior Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation Harinder Kohli and Deputy Mayor Jagdeep Singh Jagga, nominated Chairman of Market Committee Ghanaur Jarnail Mannu, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajat Oberoi, councilors of the area Ravinder Pal Ricky, Vinod Singla, Sagar Dhaliwal, Jasbir Singh Gandhi, Harpal Singh Bittu, Jasbir Singh Bittu, Jagtar Jaggi, Indian Army Colonel Vinod Singh Rawat, Army veterans Lieutenant General NPS Hira, Major General ADS Grewal, Major General Rajesh Bawa, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh, Colonel Inder Singh, Colonel Harcharan Singh, Colonel NS Sidhu, Major HS Sidhu, Captain Amarjit Singh JG, District Sainik Welfare Officer Commander BS Virk were also present to pay tribute.
