
Municipal Corporation Election-2024: Canvassing, use of cellular phone/cordless phone/wireless set/loud speaker/megaphone etc. within 100 meters of polling stations prohibited.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 20: During the Municipal Corporation Election-2024, which is being held on December 21 and counting of votes is also being done on the same day, canvassing, use of cellular phone/wireless set/loud speaker/megaphone etc. by any person within 100 meters of polling stations, putting up posters/banners related to publicity, which is likely to disrupt peace and order during the election process,
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 20: During the Municipal Corporation Election-2024, which is being held on December 21 and counting of votes is also being done on the same day, canvassing, use of cellular phone/wireless set/loud speaker/megaphone etc. by any person within 100 meters of polling stations, putting up posters/banners related to publicity, which is likely to disrupt peace and order during the election process, which may obstruct the work of security forces deployed to maintain law and order and may lead to deterioration of law and order situation and damage to private and government property and loss of human life is prohibited.
Therefore, to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of election work and to maintain law and order during the election, Shri Viraj Shyamkaran Tidke, IAS District Magistrate, SAS Nagar, exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of BNSS Act, has ordered to impose the following restrictions within 100 meters of the polling stations set up in District SAS Nagar on the day of election, dated 21 December 2024, as per the standard operating procedure issued by the State Election Commission, Punjab-
1. No campaigning shall be done by any candidate or his supporter at polling stations or public/private places. No person shall create noise or ruckus near polling stations.
2. No person shall use cellular phone/cordless phone/wireless set/loud speaker/megaphone etc. within 100 meters of polling stations. This order will not apply to observers on election duty, administrative, police officials, security personnel on duty, government employees related to polling/counting.
3. No posters/banners of any kind related to election campaign will be put up.
4. No political party, contesting candidate will set up his polling booth/tent within 100 meters of the polling station.
5. No person except the person authorized by the State Election Commission, Punjab, District Election Officer, S.A.S. Nagar and Returning Officer related to the booths of the concerned Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat elections will take his personal vehicle within 100 meters of any polling station.
