Homes and schools and colleges of the areas were visited.
Dr. Jagdeep Singh while sharing information about this said that so far 112774 houses/shops/offices etc. have been surveyed in Hoshiarpur urban area and mosquito larvae have been found in 3780 houses/villages/shops etc. On the spot, the health department teams have removed the water from the containers and destroyed the mosquito larvae. Containers that cannot be emptied immediately are sprayed with larvicide to kill the larvae. Dr Jagdeep Singh said that most dengue patients recover on their own with adequate rest, fluid intake and proper medical advice and treatment, but in some cases, dengue can take a severe form which can be life-threatening.
Some of the danger symptoms of dengue are persistent vomiting, persistent severe abdominal pain, bleeding through cough/vomiting/faeces, bleeding from nose/gums etc., difficulty in breathing, extreme weakness etc. Patients with these symptoms require immediate hospitalization so that necessary treatment can be initiated as soon as possible and possible loss of life can be avoided. He said that pregnant women, children, people with diabetes, patients with serious diseases like high BP, heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease and obese people etc. need special care. Dr. Jagdeep Singh said that it is very important for every citizen to be aware of dengue.
Dengue can be controlled to a great extent if families themselves empty their coolers and other containers filled with water at least once a week. Every small and big source of water in your house must be emptied and refilled once a week. Along with this, in case of any kind of fever, contact the nearest health center as soon as possible.
