Chandigarh: 22nd August, 2024:- Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh today officially inaugurated the 5th IEEE India Council International Subsection Conference (INDISCON 2024), presented by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, on the theme of ''Science, Technology and Society'' from August 22nd to 24th, 2024 at Hotel Shivalik View, Sector-17, Chandigarh. This Conference is being organised by IEEE India Council and IEEE Chandigarh Subsection. The Inaugural Session was presided over by the esteemed presence of Prof. Renu Vig (VC, PU, Chd) as the chief guest along with Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bahtia (Diretor, PEC), Prof. Debabrata das (Director IIIT Bengaluru), Guest of Honor, Sh. Deepak Mathur (Vice Chair, MGA IEEE USA), Registrar Col. R. M. Joshi, Prof. Sudeb Dasgupta (TPC Co-Chair and Professor, IIT Roorkee) and Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (General Chair, IEEE) graced the occasion with their auspicious presence. 
Initially, Prof. Arun Kumar Singh in his opening remarks, briefed about the conference. This conference aimed to provide an interdisciplinary platform for the academicians, researchers, industry professional and research scholars to exchange and share their knowledge, experience & research. He also shed light on various sessions with diversified knowledge of speakers. This International Conference had been organised for the first time in this region of Punjab, Haryana, HP and Chandigarh. Afterwards, Prof. Sudeb Dasgupta presented the TPC Report of the past 6 months in a very interesting manner. 
Further, Director of PEC, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, very warmly welcomed all the delegates and participants at the portals of PEC. He also shed light on the glorious legacy and history of PEC. He proudly mentioned the alumni of PEC, including today's chief guest, Prof. Renu Vig. He also mentioned Semiconductor Research Centre along with various other labs, departments and other research facilities available at at PEC.  
Prof. Debabrata das (Director IIIT Bengaluru), congratulated the Chandigarh Subsection of IEEE. He also expressed his gratitude towards the chief guest Prof. Renu Vig and Guest of Honor, Sh. Deepak Mathur. He said that this conference is a big achievement. IEEE is the best council because of its activities and social service by bringing up so many young scientists to exchange their ideas & experiences.
Guest of Honor, Sh. Deepak Mathur, briefed about the IEEE India Council. He shed on various activities performed by the council along with its widespread regions across the world. He also complemented the organising team for their tireless work to organise such an conference. 
Chief Guest, Prof. Renu Vig, expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards his alma-mater PEC. She also shed on various technical advancements which humans had gone through till date. She felt proud to be part of this conference. She said these talks and sessions would provide deeper insights into the recent happenings of science, technology and society. She also remarked that In India the Startup Industry is growing at a faster pace. 
The main patron of this Conference is Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia (Director, PEC), along with Prof. Arun Kumar Singh, Prof. R.S. Walia, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Prof. V.P. Singh, Dr. Simranjit Singh, Dr. Shimi S.L., Dr. Padmavati, Dr. Manohar Singh, Dr. Jaskirat Kaur, Dr. Gourab Das, Dr. Deepak Sharma, and Mr. Mayank Gupta are the backbone of this International Conference.
Lastly, Dr. Simranjit Singh provided a vote of thanks to all the esteemed guests, delegates, speakers and organising team for their dedication for this conference a success. The following two days would see various sessions on 5G Network, Signal Advancements, AI Techniques for Healthcare, Intelligent Control Techniques, IOT Networks, and Quantum Computing & Applications.
