Chandigarh, August 15 - Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh today hoisted the flag in Ambala city on the occasion of the state-level 79th Independence Day celebrations and took the salute of the parade. His Excellency the Governor, while extending his greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Independence Day, said that I extend my special greetings on the occasion of Independence Day to the soldiers who protect the country's borders day and night.
Earlier, Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Shaheed Smarak. He also honored the war heroes, the families of freedom fighters, the great personalities who participated in the Emergency and the Hindi Movement in the ceremony. During this, His Excellency the Governor's wife Mrs. Mitra Ghosh was also present.
Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh said that 79 years ago, on this day in the year 1947, the dream of every Indian to get freedom came true. This day is also an opportunity to remember those countless martyrs and freedom fighters who gave us this freedom by sacrificing their lives. I pay heartfelt tribute to all the known and unknown martyrs. I also express my gratitude to the great freedom fighters. The Governor said that today, like every year, the entire country has been painted in the color of patriotism with the Every Home Tricolor campaign. The tricolor is flying in every home, street and every locality. Today, we also express our gratitude to those nation builders, border guards, talented scientists, food-giving farmers, hardworking workers who have made India a great power in the world with the power of their talent, courage and hard work. The people of Haryana are proud that we played a leading role in the country's freedom movement. The first spark of the freedom movement was ignited from Ambala on May 8, 1857. In the memory of those fighters, a martyr's memorial of the first freedom struggle is being built here at a cost of Rs 538 crore.
He said that the heroes of Haryana have played an important role in the security of the country's borders even after independence. Our soldiers presented a new example of bravery during the foreign attacks of 1962, 1965, 1971 and the Operation Kargil War. It is our duty to be a support to the families of the martyrs. I am happy that in this direction, the Haryana government has increased the pension of freedom fighters and their widows to Rs 40,000 per month. Today is a day to celebrate independence as well as to be proud of our achievements.
Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh said that recently during Operation Sindoor, the world has seen the power of our indigenous technology and weapons. Not only this, our army has also punished the perpetrators of Pahalgam for their deeds by conducting Operation Mahadev. Every Indian has made a significant contribution at every step in this glorious development journey of India. But the people of Haryana are especially congratulated that with your hard work you have brought this small state into the category of the most developed states of the country. Haryana has become a leading state in every field such as per capita income, industry, production, foreign investment, education, sports, agriculture, transport etc. Haryana is at the forefront in food grain production. Every second car running on the roads of the country is manufactured in Haryana. 52 percent of the country's tractors are manufactured in Haryana.
The Governor said that today, when we are celebrating Independence Day, I am happy that the Haryana government has freed the people of the state from the discriminatory system in the last 10 and a half years. Every government scheme and program in the state has been made transparent through more than 100 portals and apps. He said that being a welfare state, concrete steps are being taken to extend the benefits of development and progress to the poorest of the poor in Haryana. An environment conducive to the flourishing of industry and trade has been created in this agriculture-dominated state. A single system of Ease of Doing Business has been prepared to give impetus to industrial development. Haryana has set many milestones towards realizing the developed India that the Prime Minister has envisioned by 2047. Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh said that on this historic day, when we are celebrating our Independence Day, let us take a pledge to work together for the reconstruction of the country.
